Screw piles and helical anchors provide a notable advantage over other foundation and anchoring systems: the capacity to load immediately after installation. This feature eliminates the need to wait for materials like concrete or grout to set and harden.
Helical piles, also known as helical piers, helical anchors, or posts, are screw-in piles used for building deep foundation systems and ground anchoring systems. A helical pile comprises a central shaft (circular or square) and one or more helix plates. These helix plates are press-formed with a specific pitch to imitate a screw and are welded to the shaft. Helical piles are available in a range of sizes and configurations to address various loading and logistical requirements. Factors such as design load, soil conditions, soil corrosiveness, and the structure's service life will determine the size and configuration of a helical pile.
The load transfers from the shaft to the helix plate(s) as the helical pile is driven below grade into the most suitable soil conditions. A high-torque/low-speed hydraulic drive motor, which can be attached to various types of equipment like excavators and skid steers, "screws" the helical pile into the ground. Helical piles remain unaffected by high water tables or caving soil conditions.
Mascore Helical Piles offer strong, long-lasting foundations for a broad range of applications. Save time and money by incorporating helical piles into your next project's foundation design.
